Lampshade Refab

So....
I was garage saleing and i saw this lamp(for $5.00)...thought it was cute, even though the lampshade was a bit..."tattered"...i thought to myself...as long as it lights up...I can always "buy" a new lampshade!!...I mean surely they sell this style of lampshade in the stores?!...I've seen them before!...right??
WRONG!!
They do not!! well not that I could find anyway...so I sat with this lampshade for a year...tattered and broken(my kids helped tatter it more...and now the plastic stuff that lined the fabric was chipping off!) I was at the end of my rope and told my hubby...that lamp!...has to GO!!!(like he bought it...right!!heh)
but...
something stopped me...I am very frugal..well...I think I am anyway!!
I couldn't get rid of it!! Well...not without first TRYING to do SOMETHING with the lampshade...
So....
I started with a sheet...I no longer used...
My excitement at finally decideing to take the plunge and do SOMETHING, prevented me from getting a before picture of the broken tattered lampshade... so...here is the frame of the lampshade...down to the bare minimals!!hehe! and a picture of the lamp with no shade...not cute..at ALL!! LOL!

so... I cut a strip off one of the finished edges of the sheet and hot glued it around the top of the frame...and one on the inside...did I mention I LOVE hot glue guns?!

so...then I took 2 LONG strips from the sheet...about 3" wide(mine wer far from perfectly straight...I love projects where un-perfect is perfect!!)
I attached one end at a corner with...yep...you guessed it....HOT GLUE!!
then started wrapping...useing glue wherever I felt it needed to "stick" mostly on the corners but sometimes in the middle too...
Here it is all finshed being wrapped...yes it looks cute now...but i felt it was lacking character...
so...
I cut another strip about 1 1/2" wide and made a ruffle...
unfortunately I did have to break out the sewing machine for that. =(
but...put a smile back on your face =) cuz i hot glued it on!!YAY!!!
all the way around the top...
it's starting to get CHARACTER...but...still not enough...

I LOVE THESE flowers right now...they are everywhere...on your clothes...in your hair...on your pillows...pillows?!hmmm......
anyway...
why not on a lampshade?!
to do these I made 3 ruffles again...useing my sewing machine...sorry!!
oh...but...WAIT...we get to GLUE them in the circle and onto the LAMPSHADE!!YAHOO!!
and...glue some little pearls in the center...
VOILA!!!

see...the light works!!hehe!!
This was SOOO much fun...and I am very happy =)
that I didn't throw out this lamp...
so...even though this has nothing to do with my ~Couture Unravele~ stuff...the edges of the fabric are Unraveling.........
Blessings to you all!!
